Viktor Gyokeres says having Bukayo Saka back to his best is “amazing” for him and the rest of his team-mates.

Saka starred in Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Fulham on Saturday, setting up the opener for Gyokeres before adding the second of his side’s goals himself.

“I think he played very well on Saturday,” Gyokeres said when asked about the return of his team-mate, who has endured a stop-start campaign because of injury.

“I think when he’s in that form, and he’s playing like he always is, it’s of course amazing for me and all the other guys to have him on the pitch.”

Gyokeres is another who has had an up and down season, but his double against Fulham took him to 21 goals in 50 games in all competitions in his debut season for the club.

“The biggest challenge, I think, is to adapt and come into a new routine and a new country because it changes everything in your life,” Gyokeres reflected on his debut campaign.

“I think to adapt to that quickly and be ready for all the challenges that are coming. I think that’s the biggest one.”

Next up for Arsenal is the second leg of their Champions League semi-final, level at 1-1 with Atletico Madrid from the first leg, with Gyokeres looking to cap off his first season in north London with a Premier League and Champions League double.

“I think we are in this position now for a reason,” Gyokeres said.

“We’ve done very well throughout the season but of course now with these games that are coming, it’s what it all comes down to, to get us over the line.

“It’s been incredible so far, what we have done, but we have to do it now.”
