Mikel Arteta says Declan Rice and Christhian Mosquera will be assessed after picking up injuries in the win over Brentford.

Goals from Mikel Merino and Bukayo Saka handed the Gunners a 2-0 win over the Bees but both Mosquera and Rice were forced off during the game.

“Obviously it’s never good news,” Arteta said.

“Declan had to come off. We don’t know. We’ll have to see tomorrow what he’s got.

“And Mosquera is the other one who is out. Obviously we have big Gabi (Gabriel) and Willy (Saliba) out as well so we have to adapt.

“It’s been a theme of the season but when I look at the players who haven’t been playing much, for example Ben White with the performance that he had and Martin who has been out and played 96 minutes straight away.

“Noni the same, Victor is now getting some minutes as well, so very pleased to see that.”

Arteta also explained his pride in how his rotated team performed in the victory, saying: “We had to make some changes. We had a very, very demanding week at every level – emotionally, physically, what the game demanded and the tactical and technical aspect of it.

“We were asked to play three days later, one less to recover than them and still performed in the way we’ve done it against a team that is super well coached, very well organised, that are very clear in how they want to generate big chances and they are really good at doing that.”
