Arsenal are being mentioned as a serious contender for Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers, with journalist Ben Jacobs reporting that the Gunners are firmly in the mix for the England international. Rogers is not the only attacking name being admired at the Emirates.
Bournemouth teenager Eli Junior Kroupi and Atlético Madrid striker Julian Alvarez are also understood to be appreciated by Arsenal, as Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta look at ways to improve the frontline this summer.
After winning the Premier League but falling painfully short in the Champions League final, Arsenal are in a position where small upgrades could make a huge difference.
They are not rebuilding from the bottom. They are trying to add quality to a squad that is already close to the very top.
That is why Rogers makes sense. He is powerful, direct, technically sharp and can play in different attacking roles.
He is not just a winger and not just a No.10. He can carry the ball through pressure, attack spaces and give Arsenal another player capable of unsettling packed defenses.
Reports have suggested Arsenal could be ready to make a major bid for him, with Villa likely to demand around £80 million.
Kroupi is a different kind of target. The Bournemouth striker is only 19 but has already attracted interest from major clubs after scoring 13 goals in his first Premier League season.
Bournemouth want to keep him after qualifying for the Europa League, so he would not be easy to sign.
Alvarez is the biggest-name option, but also probably the most complicated.
He is admired by Arsenal, but reports have suggested Barcelona may be his preferred destination if he leaves Atlético Madrid.
Rogers feels like the most realistic elite-level option for Arsenal right now. He already knows the Premier League, fits Arteta’s need for versatility, and would add more strength and unpredictability to the attack.
Kroupi would be exciting, but he is more of a future investment. Alvarez would be brilliant, but that deal looks difficult unless his situation changes.
