Arthur completed his first Santos session at CT Rei Pelé on Monday, after being officially announced by the club on the same day. His contract runs until the end of 2026.
The 29-year-old midfielder arrived in Brazil last Friday and trained with the group, having previously played for Grêmio, Barcelona and Juventus. According to Diario Do Peixe, he now begins an adaptation period after seasons in Europe.
He cannot face Palmeiras in Wednesday's Copa do Brasil quarter-final second leg at Vila Belmiro at 21:30 Brasília time, because he was signed between the two legs. If Santos reach the semi-finals, he can be registered from the next phase.
The coaching staff plan to use the coming days to build his fitness. He should train during the week, and the expectation is that he will be available to face Internacional on Sunday 6 at Beira-Rio in the 26th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
Monday's session saw the starters against Corinthians complete recovery work, while the remaining players took part in ball drills. Arthur began in the gym, then joined the squad on the pitch.
Santos return to training on Tuesday before the decisive meeting with Palmeiras. The first leg finished 3-0 at Nubank Parque, so the Peixe must win by four goals to progress directly, with a three-goal victory taking it to penalties.
