Former Corinthians women’s coach Arthur Elias has praised Fernando Diniz’s working methods and said they share a similar way of dealing with players.
Speaking to ESPN, Elias said: “Not in the model, no. But in the methodology, I identify. Giving the players confidence, asking for courage and boldness. That, yes.” He added that he phoned to congratulate Diniz on his arrival at Parque São Jorge two weeks ago.
He also called Diniz “a really good guy”.
Back in 2016, as Corinthians relaunched their women’s project in partnership with Audax, Diniz led Osasco Audax to runners-up in the Paulista Championship. They knocked Corinthians out in a semi-final at Neo Química Arena, drawing 2-2 in normal time then winning 4-1 on penalties.
Diniz now coaches Corinthians, the side he eliminated 10 years ago. He took charge earlier this month and has overseen three matches so far, with two wins and one draw.
Elias managed the Brabas from 2016 to 2023, taking 327 games, winning 258, and lifting 16 trophies, including five Brazilian Championships and four Copa Libertadores titles. He now leads the Brazil women’s national team after eight seasons at the club.
