Arthur is close to being unveiled by Santos after undergoing medical tests on Friday in Baixada Santista, according to Globo.com. The 30-year-old midfielder is expected at CT Rei Pelé to sign a four-month contract.

He would be their first reinforcement of this transfer window. Arthur has been without a club since terminating his Juventus deal and arrives without a fee.

The move was requested by Neymar and his father and has the approval of head coach Cuca. The contract runs to December 2026, in line with the end of Neymar’s agreement with the club. Neymar has not yet indicated whether he will remain next year.

Santos surrendered six kit sponsorship slots in exchange for R$ 12 million from NR Sports, the Neymar family’s company, to pay Monaco for the Jean Lucas transfer debt and lift their Fifa transfer ban.

After Arthur, the club will stay in the market for further additions as they attempt to move away from relegation trouble in the Brasileirão. The plan is to bring in up to four signings in the coming weeks.
