Arturo Ruiz leaves Real Sociedad after unilateral contract exit | OneFootball

Real Sociedad said on Thursday that head coach Arturo Ruiz has unilaterally ended his contract with the women's first team.

According to Diario Vasco, an English club has paid his release clause, understood to be a little over €100,000. Fulham, not in the top flight, is believed to be the side involved.

The club added that Maider Castillo will coach alongside assistant Fernando Torres and B-team boss Aitor Resende. A UEFA licence is required to coach from the dugout, which Torres and Resende do not hold, so Castillo will front the bench until an appointment is confirmed.

Ruiz often credited daily standards for last season's long spell near the top, capped by a win over Barcelona. The team are in Champions League qualifying, facing Chelsea.

He was appointed in late May 2025 after a standout campaign with Granada, replacing José Luis Sánchez Vera. In April he dismissed links to Atlético Madrid, saying he was happy and wanted to stay, and only two weeks ago he spoke of representing Real Sociedad in Europe.
