AS Monaco’s Edan Diop (19) has suffered a stress fracture in training and is expected to be sidelined for several weeks.
France youth international Diop was absent from first-team training on Thursday, ahead of Monaco’s match against Olympique Lyonnais on Saturday. In the pre-match press conference, attended by Get French Football News, manager Adi Hütter revealed that Diop had suffered a stress fracture in his foot.
“It’s bad news for Edan Diop. He was injured this week and it’s the same issue,” began Hütter. “It’s a stress fracture. He is out [for Lyon]. We don’t know how long he is out for. It’s sad for him because he’s a talented player.” The stress fracture in the foot is the same injury that kept him out for a considerable time last season, forcing him to miss just over a month of competition. Whilst no timescale was provided for his return, it is expected that he will once again be absent for several weeks.
In better news, Krépin Diatta has returned for Monaco, whilst Aleksandr Golovin, injured in pre-season, is around 10 days away from a return, according to Hütter. Jordan Teze, signed earlier this week, is available for selection.
