Unbeaten Saint-Étienne welcome Montpellier back at Geoffroy-Guichard, both kops present, aiming for a fifth successive win to strengthen a five-point lead in Ligue 2.
According to Le Progres, Ian Cathro names the same XI as at Dijon, with 16-year-old Megnan-Pavé up front, while Montpellier start Florian Tardieu in midfield.
Jakob Breum felt a hamstring problem against Grenoble two weeks ago and missed the tricky trip to Dijon. He is on the mend but not yet 100 percent, and at best should begin on the bench.
After a quieter window, the Verts proceed with a coherent squad. João Ferreira is back from the injury suffered against Clermont, with Mahmoud Jaber and Chico Lamba also available.
Even without the kops against Clermont and Grenoble, Saint-Étienne found a way to win. Tonight around 39,000 are expected for the season’s first sell-out, promising full-throated backing for Cathro’s side.
With four wins from four this season, ASSE stand on the brink of a first in their Ligue 2 history. Victory would make it five on the spin, a feat achieved in the single-group era, since 1993/94, only by Montpellier in 2000, Le Mans in 2002, Strasbourg in 2008 and Metz in 2018.
