ASSE women head coach Sébastien Joseph, stood down on 11 February, has been handed a 14-match suspension, Evect reports.

The 46-year-old travelled to Paris to present his case to the disciplinary commission on Thursday. He will be unable to take his place on the bench in competitive fixtures for a lengthy spell.

Joseph had been in charge since last summer and signed a two-year deal running to 2027. There are seven Première Ligue matchdays remaining this season.

He met Saint-Étienne’s leadership at the start of this week and will meet them again as part of a process launched after the 4-0 derby defeat at Lyon on 8 February. After that loss he lost his temper in the corridors and made insulting remarks towards the referee.

Association president Jean-Marc Barsotti has also been suspended, receiving a two-month ban after a lesser outburst.
