Aston Villa and Benfica are seen as the most concrete options for João Palhinha to leave Bayern Munich this summer amid conflicting claims over an imminent medical in Birmingham.

Sky Germany reports that Palhinha is not expected to be at Aston Villa today, cooling talk of a medical.

The reigning German double champions have not reached agreement with any club, which explains the lack of movement.

As it stands, Palhinha is due to travel back to Munich on Sunday for the start of Bayern’s pre-season training.

Bayern are nonetheless pushing for a sale, with director of sport Max Eberl keen to offload the midfielder, who is under contract until 2028.
