Aston Villa are monitoring Real Sociedad goalkeeper Alex Remiro as uncertainty over Emi Martinez continues. ExpressAndStar.com reports that the club have been scouting several keepers in case they need to enter the market.
Remiro, capped twice by Spain, is under consideration if Martinez departs. The 31-year-old has made more than 300 appearances in seven years for Sociedad and would be available for a relatively low fee.
Japan international Zion Suzuki has also been tracked, while Villa remain admirers of Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford. Newcastle want Trafford after he nearly joined them last summer before moving to City from Burnley.
Martinez has been heavily linked with Juventus, with personal terms said to be already in place. Any sale would still depend on the Italian club matching Villa’s valuation of the Argentina international.
Unai Emery’s priority this summer is strengthening the attack, with a striker and two wide players targeted, plus a right-back.
Villa are treading carefully to stay within UEFA financial fair play rules. They were fined £9.5million last summer for a previous breach and entered a three-year settlement agreement with UEFA.
