Aston Villa target Teun Koopmeiners could be a late deal in this transfer window, while Juventus could also allow the player to leave Turin on a loan agreement.

Koopmeiners joined Juventus in August 2024 from fellow Serie A side Atalanta for over €50m, signing a five-year contract with the Bianconeri.

The Dutchman quickly became a regular in the Bianconeri’s starting lineup and has remained a dependable performer for the Serie A giants.

Despite continuing to feature regularly for the Serie A giants, the midfielder has been unable to hit the heights that first earned him widespread acclaim, with his reputation taking a hit as a result.

The 28-year-old is now attracting transfer market attention from Premier League clubs, with Aston Villa and Manchester United ‘particularly interested’ in the Juventus star.

Juventus, who endured a disappointing campaign last term, which saw them missing out on Champions League football, were suggested to want to part ways with surplus players to generate funds ‘quickly’, and Koopmeiners could be among the departures.

Only earlier this week it was suggested Aston Villa are monitoring the situation around Koopmeiners, but there may be no quick resolution.

According to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web, Koopmeiners could be a late deal in the market, with the player’s situation expected to be resolved after mid-August.

It has been suggested that Juventus could also allow the Dutchman to leave on loan if no permanent deal can be found, which may well suit Aston Villa well.

The Bianconeri are looking to offload the player to at least partially recoup the hefty amount they spent on him two years ago and get him off the wage bill.

Aston Villa are looking to strengthen their midfield following Amadou Onana’s injury during his World Cup campaign.

The Dutchman’s experience of top-flight and Champions League football would immediately strengthen Unai Emery’s squad.

It remains to be seen whether the Villa Park outfit are able to secure the signature of Koopmeiners amid interest from Manchester United, and whether Juventus are really prepared to sanction a loan exit for a player they paid big money for.

Another player Aston Villa are chasing is Matteo Ruggeri, but they are missing a ‘definitive yes’ from the Italian defender, despite already reaching an agreement with Atletico Madrid.
