Aston Villa have held positive talks with Morgan Rogers over a new contract as the club look to tie the midfielder down to a new deal.

Rogers has emerged as one of the most exciting young talents in the Premier League since joining Villa from Middlesbrough in an £8m deal in January 2024.

The 23-year-old scored eight goals and provided 10 assists in the Premier League last season, with his performances recognised with the PFA Young Player of the Year award.

He has broken into the England squad as a result, scoring once in nine caps for the Three Lions. Rogers netted his first England goal against Wales earlier this month.

Aston Villa are aware of interest in Rogers from Premier League rivals. Chelsea and Liverpool have each tracked his progress and The Villans want to extend his deal to ward off suitors.

Rogers is viewed as a key player in Unai Emery’s project, with Sky Sports reporting that discussions have been held over an extension to 2031, on improved terms.

Villa are also working on new deals for Matty Cash and captain John McGinn.
