L’Équipe understands that former Lille OSC defender Lucas Digne will not start for Aston Villa when he comes up against his former club in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday evening.

Instead, it is Ian Maatsen who is expected to start at left-back for Unai Emery’s side later today. The Premier League club are without several key players, including Matty Cash, Boubacar Kamara, and Youri Tielemans. It means that, in midfield, Douglas Luiz will feature alongside Amadou Onana, with Morgan Rogers playing in the No.10 role. John McGinn is expected to be on the bench for Aston Villa, meaning that Ezri Konsa may wear the armband tonight.

In attack, Ollie Watkins is expected to be preferred to his compatriot, Tammy Abraham.
