Aston Villa remain light in midfield as they prepare to host Lille OSC in the second leg of their UEFA Europa League tie, aiming to defend a one-goal advantage.

There has been a lack of depth in Aston Villa’s midfield in recent weeks due to injuries, and whilst John McGinn is present and expected to start, there are still the absences of Emi Buendia, Boubacar Kamara, and Youri Tielemans to contend with.

Despite that, the options at Emery’s disposal remain strong, with Douglas Luiz and Amadou Onana both expected to start in the midfield pivot. Ollie Watkins scored in the first leg and despite struggling for form more generally recently, he will lead the line. Tammy Abraham may have to settle for a place on the bench.
