Aston Villa are set to sign West Ham United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Fabrizio Romano reports.

Villa have agreed a deal with the Hammers that will take Wan-Bissaka to Birmingham on a season-long loan, with an option to make it permanent.

Villa are preparing for a return to Champions League action and are actively strengthening key areas of their squad, especially after getting picked apart this summer.

The Lions have lost Morgan Rogers and Youri Tielemans, while the likes of Ezri Konsa are attracting serious interest from Premier League rivals.

With the core of the team ripped apart, Villa must bring in adequate reinforcements to avoid tumbling down the Premier League table this season.

Villa have already made some exciting moves, and Wan-Bissaka is the latest on their wishlist.

The Lions are now finalising a loan move for Wan-Bissaka that could become permanent if certain conditions are met during the campaign.

Villa have already scheduled a medical for Wan-Bissaka while they work on the finer details behind the scenes. But an official announcement may not be too far off.

Wan-Bissaka’s move to Villa will bolster their ranks and add quality to an area where depth is required.

At the moment, Matty Cash, who is on Everton’s radar, is the only recognised right back in Villa’s ranks, but he could soon be joined by Wan-Bissaka, who has been repeatedly praised for his defensive acumen.

Wan-Bissaka initially joined West Ham from Manchester United in a £15 million deal in the summer of 2024, and he has served the Hammers faithfully since.

He made 65 appearances for West Ham, scoring twice and weighing in with eight assists.

West Ham initially turned down a straight-loan proposal, hoping to pocket around £25m from his potential exit.

Both sides have now found a compromise, and Wan-Bissaka is reportedly excited about the Villa project and the prospect of playing in the Champions League.

Villa had also considered a move for Emerson Royal, but the deal for the former Tottenham Hotspur right-back never went through.
