Aston Villa are close to finalising a new contract for midfielder John McGinn, with negotiations at an advanced stage and an agreement expected soon.
That is according to a report in the Telegraph on Thursday.
McGinn, who joined Villa from Hibernian in 2018 for £2.5 million, has become a key figure at the club over the past several seasons.
The Scotland international, who turns 31 this weekend, has attracted interest from other Premier League clubs, including Everton, Newcastle, and West Ham, particularly during the summer transfer window.
Despite that interest, Villa are now moving to secure McGinn’s future with new terms, in line with their strategy to focus on player retention after the close of the transfer window.
Talks are also ongoing with several other players, including Morgan Rogers, Youri Tielemans, and Pau Torres.
