Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans will be out until November 22, according to the Birmingham Mail.
He is poised to miss the next five weeks of action due to a setback and will not be ready to feature until after the international break.
Villa face Leeds United on November 23, and that will likely be Tielemans’ first appearance since September.
Tielemans, who has made 79 appearances for Belgium, has been a massive miss in the centre of the park, and manager Unai Emery will be itching to have him back in the team.
Villa have battled back from a poor start to the season to win four on the trot and will be eager to make it five when they visit Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.
The Villains’ options in the engine room have been thin with Amadou Onana, Boubacar Kamara and Ross Barkley also missing parts of the season.
Hopefully, Tielemans doesn’t suffer another setback and can return fit to bring both control and balance back to the Villains’ midfield, helping the club achieve their goals this season.
Unfortunately, despite the recent injury let-up, several Villa players remain doubtful for the weekend, with Tyrone Mings, Jadon Sancho and Ollie Watkins facing late fitness tests.
Emiliano Buendia also requires assessment after sustaining a head knock against Burnley. Andres Garcia continues to work toward full match fitness, but his return time is unknown.
Emery could once again be forced to shuffle his pack, relying on depth and tactical flexibility to cope with Spurs’ energy in midfield.
Villa’s momentum has been impressive in recent weeks, but maintaining it against Spurs without several senior figures will be a severe test.
