Earlier this year, CaughtOffside reported PSG’s interest in Morgan Rogers, pointing to his impressive outings against Manchester City, Newcastle, and Brighton last season.

The winger’s speed, skill, and inventive play have reportedly put him on PSG’s radar, although Aston Villa remain firm on keeping him at the club.

In addition, The Independent previously revealed that Chelsea are also keeping tabs on Rogers as a possible summer signing. In recent weeks, the 23-year-old has rediscovered his spark, grabbing goals and assists for Unai Emery and his side.

According to Football Insider, Rogers is close to finalizing a new contract with Aston Villa. Moreover, the club are reportedly prepared to hand him a major pay increase to recognize his growing importance to the team.

The development follows interest from several Premier League rivals, including Manchester City, Tottenham, and Arsenal, who have all been linked with the England international.

This month, Fichajes reported that Liverpool and PSG have entered the race alongside Chelsea for this attacking midfielder, valued at around €80 million. Last season, PSG manager Luis Enrique got a firsthand look at Rogers’ abilities when the Parisians faced Aston Villa in the UEFA Champions League knockout stage.

Nonetheless, Rogers remains tied to Aston Villa until 2030, giving the club significant leverage in any potential transfer. Villa isn’t in a hurry to let him go and views his presence as essential—unless an “irresistible” offer comes in.

Financial considerations, including adherence to sustainability rules (PSR), also play a role. If Villa fails to meet specific economic targets, selling top assets like Rogers could become necessary, adding tension to the transfer market.

However, it seems Aston Villa will be able to keep their young talent and might look elsewhere to offload a player or two to comply with PSR rules.
