Aston Villa are stepping up plans to sign Robin Risser as replacement for Emiliano Martínez, who is expected to join Juventus after the World Cup. According to L'Équipe, the 21-year-old Lens goalkeeper is France's third-choice at the tournament and sits high on Villa's list.
Martínez is preparing to leave after five years at Villa, and the Premier League side have worked for several days to identify a successor.

The club's president is personally involved in the pursuit, yet the English side could meet firm resistance from Lens.
Risser is under contract until 2030 and has spent only one season in northern France after joining from Strasbourg for €3m last summer.
Lens are not ready to let him go. Villa are expected to lodge an opening proposal soon to gauge the French club's demands.
