An absolute icon of the club - he is the symbol of their journey from the Championship to Europa League champions.

We'll have pictures of the Scot lifting the trophy very soon!

This one is for UK and Irish users only - enjoy!

Good ebening indeed!

Let's get some reaction from across social media.

FULL TIME! VILLA WIN THE EUROPA LEAGUE!

Villa win their first trophy in 30 long years and their second-ever European trophy while Unai Emery wins an incredible fifth Europa League!

A fantastic performance and a fantastic achievement from all involved at the club.

Into added time now.

Villa and Unai Emery have done it - what a remarkable job he has done!

Moving towards the 90 and the party has long since started in the away end.

Tyrone Mings and Douglas Luiz are next to get on.

Mings has been with Villa since their days in the Championship while Luiz returned to the club after 18 months away!

What a journey it's been for Villa and so many of their players. It's only fitting that John McGinn lifts the trophy.

He scored off the bench for Chelsea in the Conference League final win 12 months go.

Could he strike late again here?

Sancho has now played in all three European finals for three different clubs in the last three seasons, all while still being a Manchester United player.

Quite the feat.

Buendía and Digne are off for Jadon Sancho and Ian Maatsen.

Their game is over but their night is only getting started.

WHAT A MISS!

Buendía scored from 20 yards out in the first half but can't from less than five here.

After a lovely one-two with Tielemans, he puts it into the side netting with a far too casual effort.

He drops to his knees but it's not gonna matter much in 15 minutes.

Martínez almost a makes a mess of a Freiburg free-kick but gathers the rebound.

The Bundesliga side have had next to no chances tonight.

Less than 20 minutes away now!

Villa fans are set to have their biggest party in a generation!

Another ridiculous stat here. They love a screamer and have had two more tonight.

As well as scoring the third, Rogers assisted the first.

On top of 14 goals this season, he's also provided just a few!

Victor Lindelöf comes off to a great reception to be replaced by Amadou Onana.

The Swede's arrival on a free transfer in late-August was not greeted with much fanfare but he has proven himself when it mattered most, and in a midfield position.

Even with over 25 minutes to go, Freiburg look beaten.

It's tough on the German side but it's Villa's night.

GOAL! VILLA MAKE IT 3-0!!!!

And that is almost certainly that!

It is another fantastic goal, with Villa moving the ball from back to front.

Buendía gets it on the left and puts it across the goal where Morgan Rogers gets to it at the near post.

Name on the trophy!

Freiburg have had most of the ball in the second half but Villa look quite content to sit back and defend.

They'll get chances on the counter.

CLOSE AT BOTH ENDS!

Pau Torres does brilliantly to beat Philipp Lienhart to the ball from a Freiburg free-kick after Ollie Watkins almost gets on the end of a Tielemans ball.

Needless to say, the next goal is absolutely vital.

Emi Martínez claims a Vincenzo Grifo cross after a rare Freiburg attack.

The keeper has never lost a final in normal time in his career and that doesn't look like changing tonight.

Villa have picked up where they left off in the second half.

They are just over 40 minutes away from a first trophy in 30 years.

SECOND HALF UNDER WAY!

Villa should really be home and hosed but a Freiburg goal would change everything.

Do the German side have anything left after that 1-2 punch?

Buendía has been in brilliant form for Villa this season and that goal sums it up.

Could it also see him make the Argentina World Cup squad? Lionel Scaloni is set to announce his squad very soon.

Prince William is loving life watching the Europa League king do his thing once again.

HALF TIME!

Villa are in complete command after two stunning strikes just before the break.

Emery is doing it again in the Europa League and the Villains are in dreamland!

GOAL! VILLA MAKE IT 2-0!

Absolutely incredible!

Villa double their lead and it's another stunning strike, this time from Emi Buendía.

He gets the ball off John McGinn and bends a left-footed effort into the top corner from just outside the box.

Is that the Europa League final done and dusted?

Villa are finishing the half brilliantly and have a corner after another rapid counter-attack.

Tielemans is the man for the big moment - he scored the only goal in Leicester's 2021 FA Cup final - and it was another absolute screamer!

WHAT A GOAL! VILLA TAKE THE LEAD!

Youri Tielemans gives Villa the lead with an absolutely sensational volley.

It's another excellent corner routine and the Belgian catches the ball perfectly from the edge of the box!

This is Cash's challenge. A still image makes it look worse but it was risky!

Half an hour in and it's been a cagey affair, just as you might expect.

Villa have had the better openings but Freiburg are proving a tough side to break down.

Matty Cash can count himself a bit lucky to only get a yellow card for that challenge on Vincenzo Grifo.

He caught him studs up after winning the ball initially.

Three players in the book inside 21 minutes. This is a proper final.

Höfler - now aged 36 - has spent his entire career with Freiburg, helping them up from the second division.

What a story that could have been!

CHANCE!

And they almost score from their first free-kick.

Villa don't deal well with the long ball into the box and the ball falls to Nicolas Höfler, who drags a left-footed shot wide.

Freiburg's best bet of a goal may come from a set-piece.

They've scored 10 in their last 14 games.

The Arsenal of the Bundesliga?!

Rogers is in the mood tonight and curls a very audacious effort just around the post from his favoured left-hand side.

You feel if Villa get the first goal, they'll really kick on.

Villa have started the better with Watkins and Rogers already causing problems.

Both are in fantastic form and come into the game off the back of scoring three of the four goals in the big win over Liverpool on Friday.

FIRST CHANCE!

Villa have the first opening and Morgan Rogers catches it so well from just outside the box.

Noah Atubolu does well to turn it away.

Incredible atmosphere inside the Beşiktaş Park!

KICK OFF!

And we're under way!

It's definitely Freiburg's biggest-ever game while it's arguably Villa's biggest since the 1982 final!

The players are out on the pitch and we are just minutes away from kick off in Istanbul.

Another very favourable stat for the second city club!

One to look out for.

Quite the stat here too - the only Europa final he has lost came with Arsenal to Chelsea in 2019.

He said he's not the Europa king but his record says otherwise!

Villa are aiming to win a second European trophy after their famous 1982 European Cup win, while manager Unai Emery could win a record-extending and remarkable fifth Europa League tonight.

He won three with Sevilla and one with Villarreal. Is another Villa - Aston - next?!

The game brings together two clubs looking to end long waits for silverware.

Villa haven't lifted a major trophy in 30 years while Freiburg's drought goes back even further - their entire 121-year history to be precise!

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of tonight's Europa League final between Aston Villa and Freiburg.
