Atalanta coach Sarri happy window is shut, wary of Malen at Roma | OneFootball

Maurizio Sarri has spotlighted Donyell Malen before Atalanta’s trip to Roma, saying, “Malen is in a state of grace, so it will be important to stop him,” per TuttoSport.

The Dutch forward has made an immediate impression since joining, and Sarri’s side have prepared with him firmly in mind for Saturday evening at the Stadio Olimpico.

Sarri underlined the physical toll on his squad, noting Atalanta are the only Serie A side to have played four matches in 11 days, which has restricted targeted work on Roma. “It is a match between a team that already has 13 or 14 months of work behind it and one like ours that has had 45 days.”

Despite the short runway and several arrivals still bedding in, he was content with Atalanta’s summer business and, more importantly, its conclusion. “I am happy that the transfer window is over. We coaches cannot have 50 days with the transfer window in the middle.”

He talked up Roma’s prospects too. “I would be surprised if Roma did not fight for the Scudetto.” He also called Gasperini a very strong coach and added, “Tomorrow evening will certainly be a difficult match, but we will try to play our game.”
