A few Serie A sides laid eyes on Karim Alajbegovic in recent months, but Atalanta are moving the most decisively to onboard him. The starlet is keen on transferring to Italy for the next step of his career, Alfredo Pedullà reports.
The Nerazzurri are aware they have to be quick to beat out the competition and are ready to table a formal €18/20M offer. Their proposal will include significant bonuses, some of which will be easy to trigger, and a resale clause. Bayer Leverkusen ask for more, but the talks are ongoing.
Atalanta can lean on the fact that Alajbegovic will have a large role right away, while he might have to fight for minutes on other sides, and on their impeccable track record of grooming youngsters.
Roma had shown significant interest before the transfer window officially opened, but they are going after more established players now. Napoli can’t bring in new players at the moment because they have an oversized squad. The prospect, who helped knock out Italy, appeared in all four World Cup matches, starting three times and scoring once.
It’s hard to dispute that La Dea would be a great landing spot for an 18-year-old, as he’d be able to grow while shielded from excessive pressure before leaving for greener pastures, as their stars routinely do. Plus, they actually need wingers following their coaching change if they want a credible 4-3-3. On the other hand, considering what he has already shown, he could easily skip the intermediate steps and join a top team directly. If that’s really his price tag, the suitors will flock if they don’t get it done soon.
