According to as.com, FIFA has told Athletic that the club has met the requirement to leave FIFA’s Registration Ban List and will be removed within five days.

That lifts the threat of being unable to register players during the next three windows, until 2028.

Athletic were placed on the list on Wednesday amid a dispute over goalkeeper Padilla’s return, after his move to Pumas for €400,000 and re-signing for €300,000 when Agirrezabala left for Valencia.

The Mexican club argued the compensation due was higher.

The episode had put Athletic on a blacklist that also names Vélez and Algeciras, the only three from Spanish football worldwide.

Padilla’s case is now closed.
