Athletico-PR hold on as Mycael saves stoppage time penalty | OneFootball

Athletico Paranaense beat Bahia 2-1 at Estádio Mário Celso Petraglia, staying third while the visitors drop to fifth after Mycael saved a second half stoppage time penalty.

In the 16th minute, Lucas Esquivel swept into the top right after a cut-back from Kerwin Vargas. Erick Pulga levelled with a crisp strike from the left side of the box (26.). After the restart, substitute Jorge Rivaldo arrived to guide in Vargas' cross for the winner (69.).

Ronaldo kept Tricolor Baiano in it with sharp stops, denying Stiven Mendoza and Vargas either side of the interval, while Mycael foiled Rodrigo Nestor from a tight angle during Bahia's best spell.

Introduced at the break, Rivaldo gave Athletico-PR greater penalty box presence, timing his run to finish low from close range off Vargas' delivery.

A handball by Jádson in the first minute of second half stoppage time led to a Bahia penalty. VAR confirmed the spot kick. Everaldo stepped up, but Mycael dived right to save in the fifth minute of second half stoppage time.
