Athletico-PR ‘to pursue’ deal for Rodinei

Athletico-PR are exploring a move for Rodinei, the Flamengo Libertadores winner now at Olympiacos (GRE). GE reports that he has one year left on his contract and is a squad leader, so an exit may not be straightforward.

With the window not yet open, Athletico-PR believe it is worth pushing for the right-back. Negotiations are expected to develop in the coming days, before the World Cup break.

Rodinei spent 2016 to 2022 at Flamengo, with a 2020 loan to Internacional. He won two Libertadores, one Brasileirão, one Copa do Brasil and two Cariocas during that spell.

In the 2022 Copa do Brasil final, he converted the decisive penalty against Corinthians.

In the 2022 Libertadores final, he was involved in the build-up to Gabigol’s goal against Athletico-PR, which clinched the club’s third title.
