Mathis Amougou trains for Chelsea for the first time!

The opening statement of the whole thing says that “Chelsea are not planning to add to the first team squad in January, with the focus being more on the summer,” much in the same way they did last year.

“The club could still put a deal in place for a young player in the new year (or the summer), in view of them joining in future seasons as they have done in the past.”

Last year that was Mathis Amougou, who came, played a handful of minutes, then was sold on in the summer.

There will likely be some shuffling around of players on loan, and perhaps a couple of first team players sold, but no major additions look likely according to this report.

The one exception to that we could imagine would be Emanuel Emegha, who has already signed for the Blues and is currently expected to join in the summer, moving his transfer forward to January. He’s just been suspended for a game by our sister club Strasbourg, and a clean break sooner rather than later might be handy for everyone.

It would mean the chance for Tyrique George to be sold in January too.

In other news…

While things go well at Chelsea, one of their future players has got himself in trouble again – Emanuel Emegha has annoyed Strasbourg fans with another faux pas.

There’s some dispute about whether Chelsea are in the title race this year or not. I mean, they definitely are now, but the question is whether they will be in May.
