Atlas are attempting to hijack Santos’ move that would send Adonis Frías to Racing on loan and bring right-back Martirena to Vila Belmiro for one year.

According to Globo.com, the Mexican club contacted the Argentine defender’s camp in recent hours, and he liked the proposal.

Santos rejected a purchase offer from Atlas and remain intent on finalising terms with Racing, though the player’s future is now uncertain. The club have set conditions for a sale to Atlas, refuse any loan, and are awaiting a new response.

Another possibility would be a permanent swap involving an Atlas player, with the side coached by Argentine Hernán Crespo, formerly of São Paulo.

Santos aim to honour their agreement with Racing, and the board will accelerate payment this week to lift a transfer ban.

The R$ 12 million debt to Monaco has barred new registrations under a Fifa ruling, a matter that had initially been parked. Given this opportunity, the club plan to settle the debt and be removed from the veto list.

For that, the club are relying on Adonis Frías’s commitment, although late interest from Mexico, where he played from 2023 to 2025, has left him uncertain.
