Atlético de Madrid have confirmed José Giménez has signed a new contract, keeping him at the club until 2028.
The 28-year-old is a veteran at this stage, having joined the club over 10 years ago in the summer of 2013.
He has since gone onto make 290 appearances under Diego Simeone, scoring 12 goals. In this time, he has won two La Liga titles and the Europa League.
At international level, Giménez has made 81 appearances for Uruguay.
It is further good news for Atlético who have enjoyed a strong start to the season, both at home and in the Champions League.
