Atletico Madrid have confirmed the exit of Turkish defender Caglar Soyuncu, a year on from signing him. The former Leicester City defender will turn a useful profit for Los Rojiblancos.
Soyuncu arrived on a free last summer, but never got going in an Atletico shirt, playing just 219 minutes for the club before leaving for Fenerbahce on loan in January. He did so to get fit for Euro 2024 with Turkey, but tragically was injured in the run up to the tournament.
He did enough to impress in his 16 appearances in Istanbul though. Fenerbahce have paid a reported €8.5m for the 28-year-old, after Jose Mourinho approved his signing.
Los Colchoneros are attempting to renew their defence, and that money will be put towards signing Robin le Normand, whom Atletico have reached an agreement with Real Sociedad for. With Stefan Savic also likely to depart, Feyenoord and Slovakia centre-back David Hancko has also been linked with a move to the Metropolitano.
