Both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid were able to secure a win ahead of their big clash at the Metropolitano next weekend.
Speaking to the media after their recent 2-0 win over Oviedo, Atleti players Jan Oblak and Mark Pubill talked about Barcelona as an opponent and what they expect in this high-octane encounter.
Oblak, who returned to the starting eleven after missing two games due to injury, spoke highly of Barcelona as an opponent.
“Barça is Barça. They have great players, and they can always play a perfect game. Maybe they haven’t managed it in recent matches, but they can do it on Tuesday,” he said (h/t Mundo Deportivo).
“They have great players, it will be a very difficult match, but we’re going to do our best, and hopefully we’ll take the points from there,” he added.

Oblak will indeed play a key role for Atletico Madrid as they look to shut out the Barcelona attack, which has been bolstered by the return of Raphinha and the iconic front trio involving him, Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal.
Dani Olmo has also looked in good touch and could be a threat in the final third for Los Rojiblancos.
That is where Atletico’s defender, Marc Pubill, will play a key role. Speaking after the game, the right-back admitted that Barcelona will be a tough opponent.
However, Pubill also believes Atletico Madrid are ready for the challenge.
“They are great players. It’s a great club, but I wouldn’t take anyone out. I think we are prepared to play that match, to face it well, and that’s what we’re going to do. So the team is ready,” he said (h/t Mundo Deportivo).
