Barcelona’s long-term plans in attack continue to take shape, and the name at the top of Deco’s list is reportedly Julian Alvarez.
The Atletico Madrid forward has finally addressed the growing speculation linking him with a move to Spotify Camp Nou, admitting that while there has been talk, he is not letting it distract him from his current focus.
The Catalan club are already thinking beyond Robert Lewandowski, whose contract runs until 2026.
With no active talks of an extension, Barcelona are preparing for a future without the Polish striker, aiming to secure a player capable of leading their frontline for years under Hansi Flick’s project.
Alvarez, with his versatility, pressing ability, and eye for goal, fits that vision perfectly.
Speaking to France Football (h/t AS), the Argentine confirmed that Paris Saint-Germain had also shown interest while acknowledging Barcelona’s growing presence in the conversation.

“In Spain, there is a lot of talk about me and Barcelona. When I signed for Atlético last year, there was a lot of talk about Paris.
“It is true that there were talks between PSG’s management and my agent; they showed interest in signing me, but nothing materialised.
“For now, I’m focused on Atletico. We will talk at the end of the season,” Alvarez declared when asked about the rumours linking him to Paris and Barcelona.
With Alvarez already proven in La Liga and familiar with Spanish football, he represents a logical and less risky target compared to players from outside Europe’s top leagues.
However, it is known that he would not come cheaply.
In fact, with a contract until 2030, there are talks that the La Liga club would not sell the forward for anything less than €150 million.
