Atlético Madrid join AC Milan in defender hunt | OneFootball

La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have positioned themselves in the race for an in-demand Euro 2024 star.

That’s according to transfer insider Matteo Moretto, who points towards Strahinja Pavlović as the player in question.

Stopper Pavlović, for his part, is fresh off piquing attentions across the continent at the European Championships, with Serbia.

Afforded starts in all three of his country’s group stage fixtures, the 23-year-old thoroughly impressed, despite Serbia’s early exit from the tournament.

Prior to as much, though, Pavlović had actually long been turning heads with his performances at club level.

The no-nonsense central defender is currently contracted to Red Bull Salzburg, to whom Serie A heavyweights AC Milan are readying an imminent offer for Pavlović.

As per Matteo Moretto, however, the Rossoneri are not the only ones in the running for the Serb:

‘In the last few hours Atletico Madrid also asked for information about Pavlović,’ it is confirmed.

Amid difficulties in finding an agreement for first-choice defensive target Dávid Hancko, the brass at the Wanda Metropolitano have been forced to look elsewhere, with Pavlović’s name having quickly come to the fore.
