Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone spent an estimated €176m over the summer as part of a major squad revamp.
Los Rojiblancos are aiming to challenge Real Madrid and Barcelona in the La Liga title race after finishing third once again in 2025/26.
Amongst the new faces, Simeone bolstered his attack, with moves for Serie A duo Giacomo Raspadori and Nico Gonzalez.
Simeone has opted to change his attack in the opening three games of the domestic season with Atletico Madrid yet to win a game.
Alexander Sorloth, Julian Alvarez and Giuliano Simeone have also scored just one league goal so far with the majority of the squad now away on international duty.
With Simeone looking to freshen things up in the Spanish capital, Norway international Alexander Sorloth was linked with a possible move away.
Despite only joining Atletico Madrid last summer, he netted 24 goals in all competitions in his debut campaign, but Premier League side Newcastle United were linked with a late window offer.
The Magpies sprung into action following Alexander Isak’s record breaking transfer move to Liverpool before eventually swooping for Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa.
Despite the rumours over his future, Sorloth has rejected claims he was considering a move away, during an interview from Norway’s camp.
“The rumours surprised me a lot. I’m not unhappy at Atletico Madrid. Rumours are something you have to live with as a player. Things were written that aren’t true,” as per Mundo Deportivo.
“I’m happy to play for one of the biggest and best clubs in the world. We’re having a tough start to the season, but we’re confident we can turn things around.”
Norway return to 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification at home to Moldova on September 9 with four wins from four so far in a Group I ranking which also features Italy.
