A list of La Liga’s top-10 most expensive signings of the summer has this week come to the fore online.

And it is unsurprisingly dominated by Xabi Alonso’s Real Madrid.

After a season which saw them dominated and at times embarrassed by arch rivals Barcelona, Florentino Pérez and the Real Madrid brass this summer opted to spend big.

As much culminated in Dean Huijsen, Álvaro Carreras and Franco Mastantuono all making their way to Spain’s capital.

And these three, in this specific order, stand out as the priciest arrivals in La Liga over the last few months.

Elsewhere, Barcelona’s sole inclusion comes at no.7, courtesy of their deal for Espanyol no.1 Joan García.

Also featuring prominently on the list, meanwhile, are Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid, as well as high-flying Villarreal.
