Southampton have reportedly won a case over an unpaid instalment relating to former defender Lyanco, with a ruling requiring Atletico Mineiro to settle £980k plus interest.
Geglobo reports that Southampton took the dispute to FIFA over a missed third payment of €1.125m (£980k), which was due in July 2025, with proceedings beginning in October 2025.
FIFA’s Dispute Resolution Chamber found for Southampton, and Atletico Mineiro appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. CAS upheld the decision, and the Brazilian club now have 45 days to pay the overdue sum plus interest.
Lyanco, 29, spent 2021 to 2024 on the south coast, making 36 Premier League appearances. He joined Qatari side Al-Gharafa on loan in 2023 before a reported £4.5m move to Atletico Mineiro the following summer.
Earlier this year, Southampton raised a further issue over the fourth instalment not being paid on time and are awaiting a decision.
