Atlético Madrid star responds to ‘bad loser’ José Mourinho: ‘Always looking for excuses’ | OneFootball

Atlético Madrid star Álex Baena has this weekend sent a harsh message the way of Real Madrid head coach José Mourinho, labelling the Portuguese a ‘bad loser’.

Iconic tactician Mourinho has of course taken his place centre stage in the Spanish media chatter over the course of the last week. This comes owing to his behaviour in the aftermath of Real Madrid’s derby day defeat at the hands of Diego Simeone’s Atlético.

Bemused by the officiating over the course of the 90 minutes at the Metropolitano, Mourinho was not at all shy in making his feelings known post-match. The 63-year-old brought a printout of two challenges which he felt should have resulted in red cards, before taking aim at referee Miguel Ángel Ortiz Arias and his team of officials.

As alluded to above, though, of the opinion that Mourinho’s frustrations were altogether misplaced is a member of the attacking ranks in Atlético Madrid’s squad.

Speaking to the media after finding the net in Spain’s Nations League victory over England on Saturday, Álex Baena hit back at Real’s headmaster, insisting:

“José Mourinho’s post-match press conference? He’s complaining because he lost. When Real Madrid lose, he always looks for excuses instead of focusing on himself.

“Showing the printed papers was the behaviour of a bad loser.”
