La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have on Wednesday confirmed the extent of the injury suffered by defensive star Robin Le Normand.
Stopper Le Normand was for his part forced into a premature departure from Atlético’s Champions League clash with Union Saint-Gilloise yesterday evening.
En route to a 3-1 Rojiblancos victory, the Spanish international limped out of proceedings during the first-half, following a coming together in midfield.
Le Normand was in turn put through a round of medical tests in Madrid this morning.
And the results of as much have since been revealed, as follows:
‘Robin Le Normand was substituted in the first half of the Champions League match against Union St. Galloise due to a hyperextension injury to his left knee. A new assessment carried out on Wednesday, which included additional tests, diagnosed the Spanish international with a high-grade tear of the posterior capsule and semimembranosus muscle, with ligamentous and meniscal damage intact.
‘Robin Le Normand has started physiotherapy and rehabilitation treatments today, and his progress will determine his return to competition.’
Atlético have for their part not put a timeline on Le Normand’s return to competitive duties.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, though, the expectation is that he will be unavailable for selection for between four and eight weeks.
