The season’s first Madrid Derby is of course primed to play out in 24 hours’ time, when Atlético welcome their cross-city rivals to the Metropolitano for a showdown in Spain’s top-flight.

Diego Simeone’s troops head into the fixture brimming with confidence, fresh off back-to-back wins featuring seven goals scored and none conceded.

And as alluded to above, a day out from the derby, the Rojiblancos have been afforded further reason for encouragement.

Atléti’s squad to face Real Madrid was unveiled online a short time ago, and featured, most notably, the name of star goalscorer Julián Alvarez.

Alvarez was forced to sit out his side’s last two outings owing to a muscular problem, but has returned to fitness in time to receive the green light for Sunday.
