Standard Sport understands that Stoke will pay a fee of around £3million including add-ons, and the Blues have included a sell-on clause in the contact.

Ampah will now travel for a Deadline Day medical at Stoke to finalise a permanent exit from Chelsea.

The Ghana-born England Under-21 international has been attracting plenty of interest, including from clubs in the Championship, after Chelsea decided last month to explore a sale.

Ampah’s only first-team appearance for Chelsea came last season against Kazakhstani club Astana in the Conference League.

Ampah joined Chelsea at the age of 11 and signed his first professional contract with the club in April 2023.

The winger’s arrival will not be the only new face at Stoke on Deadline Day, with the Potters also winning the race to sign Crystal Palace’s Jesurun Rak-Sakyi.

Rak-Sakyi, another winger, snubbed interest from Millwall to move to Stoke for the remainder of the season.
