Augsburg confirm Giannoulis exit to PAOK | OneFootball

Augsburg confirmed on Thursday that Dimitrios Giannoulis has left after two years to join PAOK FC.

The 30-year-old returns to Greece and departs having made 58 Bundesliga appearances for Augsburg.

Sporting director Benjamin Weber said the left-back had asked to move home to be closer to his family after open discussions with the club.

He added that Augsburg worked with PAOK to reach a solution and thanked Giannoulis for his efforts, wishing him well for the future.

Giannoulis said he enjoyed his time at Augsburg and that the decision was difficult, but it was time to return home.

He expressed gratitude to the management and sent his best to the club, team-mates and fans, adding that he might be back at the WWK-ARENA in a few months if Greece face Germany there.
