Augsburg sporting director Benni Weber has hailed 19-year-old Noahkai Banks’ emergence this season, suggesting the centre-back could in time play for a very big club.

Banks has cemented a starting role and drawn widespread praise. Kicker reports the USMNT defender could command a high transfer fee this summer if firm interest arrives. With his contract running until 2029, Augsburg retain a strong negotiating position.

“It’s a great joy to see how he’s developing, how many decisive moments he has. He will probably play for a very big club one day,” Weber told Kicker.

“It's difficult to say. I really enjoy playing in the Bundesliga, to be honest. But there are a lot of great leagues, such as the Premier League, Serie A and La Liga. One of the clubs I idolized while growing up was Barcelona. I think I can say that's my favorite club. So yeah, maybe one day it would be a dream to play for them, but let's see what happens," he told Bulinews.com.

For now, the defender says he is “torn” between representing the United States, where he has played at youth level, and Germany, speaking after Augsburg’s 2-0 win over 1. FC Köln last week. Kicker reports that some at the club are advising the United States route, considering the potential impact a World Cup squad place could have on his market value.
