Augsburg are set to sign Ermedin Demirović in exchange for Michael Gregoritsch, according to Kicker.
It’s reported that Freiburg had hoped that Gregoritsch would be joining the squad during their pre-season training camp. However, Augsburg are prolonging the possible transfer with a new set of demands. FCA would like Demirović to come the other way in exchange.
The 24-year-old Bosnian international is four years younger than Gregoritsch and contracted to Freiburg until 2024.
Hertha Berlin had hoped to hijack the deal with the signing of Demirović, who they previously tried to sign on loan last winter. However, despite interest from the capital, Kicker reports that the swap deal is due to take place.
Demirović was absent from Freiburg training on Friday and is believed to be on his way to sign for Augsburg. The deal is reported to be a straight swap with no transfer fee involved.
Gregoritsch was Augsburg’s top goalscorer last season with nine Bundesliga goals, seven of which came in the second half of the campaign. Demirović was nothing more than a supplementary player for Freiburg last season. The Bosnia will have big boots to fill at Augsburg.
