Auxerre beat Metz 3-1 at Stade Saint-Symphorien to end a six-match winless run and leave the hosts bottom in Ligue 1.

The visitors led in the fourth minute when Sadibou Sané put through his own net.

Donovan Leon kept Metz out with a sharp stop from Koffi Kouao (18.).

After the restart, a second Metz own goal from Michel Mboula doubled the advantage (76.). Kévin Danois then rifled into the top right from outside the box (89.), set up by Lassine Sinayoko.

Substitute Nathan Mbala pulled one back in the fourth minute of second half stoppage time, finishing after Alpha Touré's pass.

Metz had 62% possession and 13 attempts. Auxerre registered 14 attempts and won 78.3% of their tackles.

Auxerre sit 16th on 17 points in the relegation play-off place. Metz remain 18th on 13 points. Next, Metz visit Paris Saint-Germain. Auxerre host Rennes.
