Luca Netz was outstanding as Nottingham Forest wrapped up pre-season with a comfortable 2-0 win over Ligue One Brest at the City Ground. The German full-back defined a dominant first half.

According to Nottingham Post, this was Forest's final friendly of the summer ahead of the Premier League opener against Leeds next weekend. The senior group were given the afternoon off after a behind-closed-doors game against Coventry City yesterday.

Netz earned a penalty when Mama Balde hauled him down, and Chris Wood tucked in from the spot. He then finished a slick move, Callum Hudson-Odoi fed Nicolas Dominguez, whose first-time pass freed Netz to score.

At half-time the Reds bid farewell to Taiwo Awoniyi, forming a guard of honour and giving him the bumps as he closes in on a move to Coventry City.

After the break chances were scarce, with Forest managing the game well. Arnaud Kalimuendo overhit a pass when trying to find Dilane Bakwa, and the opening for a third goal went.

Netz topped the player ratings with eight, most starters scored seven, and the substitutes six. Strong displays also came from Dominguez, Xaver Schlager, Eric Da Silva Moreira and Hudson-Odoi, while Wood led the line well.
