Auxerre drew 0-0 with Paris FC, and L'Équipe reports that supporters booed and turned on the sporting director, deepening a grim Ligue 1 campaign.
After 21 league matches, Auxerre have 14 points. Each of the 10 previous teams with that tally at this stage were relegated. They are five league games without a goal and the winter window did not strengthen the attack.
These were billed as two crucial fixtures in eight days, Paris FC then a trip to Metz next weekend. A six-point swing could have changed the mood. After that result, the maximum is four, and they sit in the play-off place on goal difference over Nantes.
Christophe Pelissier said the point does not satisfy them and they must start a winning run. He said the drought is weighing on everyone and the squad feel wounded by not scoring.
Post-match, players approached the ultras with heads bowed to hear grievances, then received songs of encouragement. Beyond the team and staff, anger has focused on the board.
A banner criticised president Baptiste Malherbe, while the sporting director was singled out and his resignation was demanded after the game. Another first-half banner cast him as a sporting director in theory, accused him of repeated mistakes and said he was no longer wanted.
Auxerre now face bottom club Metz next weekend in what could shape their survival hopes. Pelissier added that unity across the club is the only positive, warning that divisions would not help his players.
