Axel Tuanzebe is reportedly seeking £1 million in damages from Manchester United for alleged ‘clinical negligence’ in relation to ‘medical advice’ he received.
Tuanzebe joined United as an eight-year old and spent 17 years at the club.
After impressing with his performances for the reserve teams, the centre-back earned his senior debut in January 2017.
He made 37 senior appearances for the Red Devils, but his time at Old Trafford was marred by a series of injuries, including a season ending one sustained in December 2019.
The Congolese left the club to join Ipswich Town in 2023, but after a two-year spell signed for Burnley in the summer.
It emerged in July that Tuanzebe filed a lawsuit against United for allegedly harming his career.
Sky News has now revealed the details of the player’s allegations.
The 27-year-old is claiming the club failed to treat an injury ‘promptly’ and ‘appropriately’, leaving him with more serious long-term issues.
He says he cannot play ‘without restriction or impediment’ due to the impact of the original injury.
The defender is seeking more than £1m in damages from his former employers.
Tuanzebe joined Burnley in the summer following the expiry of his contract with Ipswich.
He missed the start of the season due to a muscular issue, but recovered to make seven appearances in the Premier League and Carabao Cup.
