Ayase Ueda scored again for Lille, striking in the 12th minute against Betis to continue a blistering start.
According to L'Équipe, the 28-year-old recently joined from Feyenoord for 15 million euros and this was his first start for the club.
Ueda arrived at the back post to turn in an Ethan Mbappé cross, delivering Lille’s first goal of their European campaign.
He had already marked his debut with the winner at Toulouse on Thursday, a 1-0 success in Ligue 1, scoring with one of his first touches.
The poacher’s finish underlined Davide Ancelotti’s call to select him ahead of Olivier Giroud and offers a promising platform as Lille open their Champions League season.
