Ayase Ueda set for Lille in €15m move | OneFootball

According to L'Équipe, Lille have agreed a deal worth around €15m to sign Feyenoord striker Ayase Ueda, lining up a replacement before sanctioning Matias Fernandez-Pardo’s Premier League move. The 21-year-old Belgium international is determined to depart, probably to Newcastle in a €65m deal.

Talks accelerated during Friday’s Champions League draw in Monaco. Club president Olivier Létang then travelled to Rotterdam to finalise matters, watching Feyenoord draw 2-2 with Den Haag as Ueda scored his 40th Eredivisie goal in 82 games, after which the forward said goodbye to team-mates.

The 28-year-old Japan international has 43 caps and 18 goals, and last season finished Eredivisie top scorer on 25 goals. Feyenoord signed him from Cercle Bruges for €8m in summer 2023 and needed to sell.

Feyenoord have stayed firm over defensive midfielder Gjivai Zechiël, a long-standing Lille target. As with Dilane Bakwa’s loan from Nottingham Forest on Wednesday, followed by a goal against PSG in Friday’s 2-2 draw, the club moved quietly for Ueda.

Ueda is due for a medical on Monday before signing at Domaine de Luchin. Formed at Kashima Antlers under Brazilian great Zico, he started for Japan at the 2026 World Cup. He will compete with the in-form Olivier Giroud, who has one goal and two assists in two Ligue 1 games and turns 40 on 30 September, while Hamza Igamane’s return is hoped for this autumn.
